Why Being Early for Your Pilates Class Matters
By: Rose Dombrow
At our studio, we understand how busy life can get. Between work, family, and the daily hustle, squeezing in time for yourself is already an accomplishment. ⭐️ Arriving a little early isn’t just polite, it’s an essential part of getting the most out of your session. Let’s dive into this topic deeper!
1. Time to Settle In, Mentally and Physically
Rushing into class at the last minute leaves your body tense and your mind scattered. Arriving early gives you a chance to transition from the chaos of the day into a calm, focused mindset. You can take a few moments to breathe deeply, center yourself, and prepare mentally for the mindful movement ahead.
2. Respect for Your Instructor and Fellow Classmates
When everyone arrives on time (or even better, early), classes can start smoothly and on schedule. Late arrivals disrupt the flow of the session, and it can be distracting for both the instructor and the clients who are already focused and moving. The disruption could lead to unwanted injuries and can be easily avoided.
3. Proper Setup = Safer Practice
Whether it’s adjusting your Reformer springs, grabbing props, or simply making sure your mat is placed properly, having a few extra minutes ensures you’re set up safely and correctly. This prevents injuries, distractions, and interruptions during class. Arriving more than 5 minutes late’s dangerous for your body and the instructor.
4. Maximize Every Minute of Your Workout
Classes are designed with intention, from the warm-up to the final stretch. Arriving late means you might miss essential cues, progressions, or safety instructions. Those first few minutes are crucial for gradually preparing and warming up your body for the work ahead.
5. Create a Consistent Ritual for Yourself
When you consistently arrive early, it becomes a small but powerful part of your wellness routine. It’s a moment you carve out just for you. It reinforces the value of prioritizing your health, being present, and fully committing to your practice.
Our Tip: Aim to arrive about 5 minutes before class and extra time to find a parking space. (Our little parking lot can get crazy) Use that time to stretch, hydrate, chat with your instructor, meet and create new friendships with your fellow classmates or simply breathe and be still. Your body and your practice will thank you.
