Pilates is for those who want to look and feel better. It is for those who strive to function at an optimal level, pain-free. Pilates is for those who seek balance in life, wanting to change their lives for the better by enhancing the mind while strengthening the body. Pilates is for anyone and everyone!
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DO PILATES?
With any form of exercise, consistency is the key. If you wanted to do Pilates every day, go ahead! We recommend 1-3 sessions per week, along with some cardiovascular activity in between.
WHAT ARE PILATES MAT CLASSES?
Pilates mat classes center around the floor work developed by Joseph H. Pilates, and range from beginner to advanced exercises. Using the body’s own resistance, a series of movements are are performed designed to improve circulation, breathing, posture, and body awareness. Mat classes incorporate small equipment such as bands, fitness circles, arc barrels, foam rollers, stability balls, weights, Bosu balance traniers, etc. Pilates mat classes are limited to twelve people.
WHAT ARE PILATES EQUIPMENT CLASSES?
Pilates equipment is special because it allows clients the option of exercising in non-weight bearing, partial weight bearing or full weight bearing positions (lying down, sitting, and standing). Exercises can be done upright, upside down, forward, or backward. The equipment is so unique that it accommodates many ranges of motion, which are essential to optimum human performance. Pilates equipment includes the reformer, cadillac or trapeze table, stability chairs, and ladder barrels. Pilates equipment classes are limited to four people.
